Job Summary
Part-time Alternative Education Teacher to provide direct and online instruction for at-risk youth and adult learners. Responsibilities include delivering district-approved curriculum in-person and online, serving as a mentor for online courses, documenting weekly interactions to meet Michigan Pupil Accounting Manual requirements, tracking student progress, providing timely feedback, and collaborating with parents, peers, and administrators to support non-traditional learners. The role emphasizes trauma-informed practices, clear learning objectives, credit recovery for secondary students, and state-compliant virtual learning communication standards, with duties spanning classroom management, student engagement, and ongoing professional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Science or Social Studies Endorsement/s
- Ability to teach both in-person and online
- Experience or ability to facilitate online learning and trauma-informed practices
- Strong communication with parents/guardians and adult learners
- Experience with assessment and state reporting requirements
