Job Opportunities; Customs Classification Specialist

Job Summary

Oversee daily management of customs classifications for ingredients, raw materials, compounds, manufacturing products, and samples using the WCO Harmonized Commodity Schedule. Determine and assign international and local customs codes, maintain classification systems, and review tariff numbers for both products and acquisitions portfolios to identify issues. Respond to inquiries regarding HS classification to ensure timely clearance, support the Head of Customs Classification in defining determination criteria, and provide management with overviews of risks, issues, and disputes. Collaborate with the Global classification team to harmonize product family classifications. Requires a university degree in chemistry or related fields, five years of industry experience, and strong English communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in chemistry or similar background such as food engineering, chemical engineering
  • Good knowledge of customs and import / export regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience (minimum five years) in flavor, fragrance, food, chemical or related industry, Customs authorities, Customs brokers and Consulting companies
  • English is mandatory
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently on multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a multi-dimensional, multi-national environment

Desired Qualifications

  • SAP and SAP-GTS experience a plus
