Job Summary

Developmental Disabilities Intern responsible for 1:1 direct behavior analysis services in home and community settings, shadowing IIC and BA cases, providing respite care or behavioral assistance, delivering services per Treatment Plans and Positive Behavior Supports, collecting data, implementing BA plans, supporting skill development and family education, crisis prevention and intervention, and ensuring adherence to policies with flexible evening hours; unpaid internship requiring master’s-level education progress and credentials, with certification requirements and background checks.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing or have a completed Master’s degree in Special Education or related field (Education & Experience)
  • Current college student or recent graduate
  • Must provide proof of credentials and at least 3 professional references
  • Must consent to and pass a formal background check including fingerprinting
  • Interns are required to complete DCF COSC Behavioral Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of two years of experience in respite care, behavioral healthcare, or related field
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, or Creole preferred
  • Schedule flexibility with evening hours
  • Ability to work with individuals ages 4-21 and families
  • Shadowing Intensive in Community and Behavioral Assistance cases
  • Submission of weekly progress notes using daily living tasks checklist and DAP Note format
  • Implement behavioral procedures and data collection
  • Adhere to agency policies and participate in training

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field (pursuing or completed)
  • Equivalent work experience considered
  • Two years of experience in respite care, behavioral healthcare, or related field
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Interventions and some clinical training
  • Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, or Creole)
  • Ability to provide proof of credentials and at least 3 professional references
  • Must consent to background check including fingerprinting
  • Practicum or Internship in a Master’s Degree Program
  • Completion of DCF COSC Behavioral Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with individuals ages 4-21 and families
  • Strong communication, active listening, adaptability, reliability
  • Proficiency with computers; ability to learn new software
