Job Summary
The Job Development Specialist assists unemployed or underemployed individuals in identifying career interests and obtaining community-integrated employment. Responsibilities include using person-centered employment planning, providing job development support, and building relationships with businesses and service agencies. The role requires strong understanding of employee rights, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to research employment opportunities. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, relevant certification, and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a GED or high school diploma
- Technical knowledge to operate a computer and smartphone
- Obtain or possess a DDA-Approved certification in employment
- Experience assisting people to seek and/or obtain employment
- Two years experience working with people with developmental disabilities
- Valid Maryland driver’s license and daily access to an insured vehicle
- Excellent time management and customer service skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to complete all COMAR and agency-required training
