Job Summary
Conduct individualized academic and vocational counseling to guide participants in developing career pathways for TASC preparation and construction training. Recruit out-of-school youth ages 18 to 24 interested in apprenticeship opportunities and create relationships with employers to develop private sector job positions. Assess skill levels, schedule employment interviews, and match individuals to appropriate openings while maintaining records and completing progress reports. Conduct follow-up on placements to determine job retention and provide counseling when requested by employers or participants. Attend Urban League of Rochester events and fundraising functions. Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, or public administration preferred with at least two years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, public administration, or related social science field preferred
- At least two years of experience in a related area, including administrative and employment background, preferred
- Ability to relate to, communicate with, and work with a diverse population and understand the issues relating to such population
- Ability to relate well with others
- Be a team player with a positive can-do attitude
- Needs to be assertive
- Communicate effectively with trainees and company personnel
- Competency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Must be customer service oriented
- Must be able to tolerate and handle stressful situations calmly and professionally
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of available community resources is a plus
