Job Summary
Manage temporary support for university departments by storing, moving, and delivering supplies while assembling furniture and preparing rooms for events. Perform seasonal grounds maintenance including snow removal, lawn care, and road upkeep, alongside routine facilities tasks like unblocking drains, replacing bulbs, and minor vehicle maintenance. Handle pest control, traffic support, and waste disposal while operating equipment such as forklifts and power tools. Assignments range from one day to four months in part-time or full-time roles. Requires a valid BC Class 5 license, six months of related experience including forklift operation, and ability to work in extreme weather and hazardous conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
- Six months' related experience including forklift operation
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to operate related equipment such as a variety of hand and power tools, ladders and lifts, snow blower, power broom, pressure washer, dollies, vacuum, forklift, and delivery vehicles
- Exposure to extremes of heat, cold, inclement weather, temperature fluctuations
- Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, noxious odorous, poor ventilation, restrictive work areas
- Exposure to accident hazards and hazardous materials
- Lifting weights greater than 20 kg
