Job Summary

Deliver in-person instruction for SOCW 4760: Family and Child Welfare Policy on Wednesdays from 17:30 to 20:20 between September 8th and December 23rd at the Kamloops campus. Guide students through critical examinations of family and child welfare policy and practice issues, emphasizing gender, race, and class analysis within the Canadian context. Facilitate learning on key developments in the professionalization and reform of child welfare, while addressing the impacts of policy on racialized and Indigenous groups. Ensure curricula integrate Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods, fostering intercultural understanding and mutual respect among students.

Required Qualifications

  • A master's degree in social work
  • A minimum of five years of related practice experience in child and family welfare
  • A proven record of anti-racist and anti-colonial social work practice
  • An ability to demonstrate experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62)
  • Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63)
  • Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10)

Desired Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline with an undergraduate credential in social work
  • Successful teaching experience in post-secondary institutions
  • Specialization in Indigenous family and child welfare
