Job Summary
Lab Technician to support equipping, setting-up, maintenance, safety and delivery of laboratory/field sessions at Thompson Rivers University, including field trips and field courses. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory and facilities, operating standard and specialized equipment, providing technical support to students in practicums and experiential learning, compiling usage and inventory reports, scheduling facilities, organizing and demonstrating equipment and instructional materials with teaching faculty, training faculty and students in equipment use, ensuring a safe learning environment, contributing to QA/QC programs, overseeing student assistants, and coordinating communication with community partners. Travel within BC is required. Reports to: As Designated.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) year undergraduate post secondary degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
- Three (3) years' related laboratory or field experience in related discipline
- Demonstrated data entry skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe laboratory and field practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques used in laboratory/field of the appropriate discipline
- Knowledge of laboratory/field equipment appropriate to the area of the assignment
Desired Qualifications
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Three (3) years related laboratory or field experience
