Job Summary
Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily activities, including grocery shopping, meal preparation, and personal hygiene. Guide job seekers and employed individuals toward competitive employment by completing job analyses, developing support plans, and providing transportation to work sites. Teach life-improving, daily, and social skills while modeling productive behavior and encouraging positive social connections. Monitor medical records, administer medication per policy, and intervene in aggressive or physically demanding situations. Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as wheelchair transfers and mobility assistance. Work standard hours Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Preference experience in the field of developmental disabilities
- Ability to interpret procedures, instructions, and other detailed material
- Flexibility, patience, and ability to remain an advocate regardless of short-term results
- Ability to remain professional and consistent under stressful/provoking situations
- Openness to constructive feedback
- Active Listening
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures yet able to think through situations to make decisions that fit within guidelines and reflect all aspects of an individual's support, safety, and development
- Complete and pass all required registry and background checks
- CPR certification
- First aid certification
- Medication Aide license
- Valid driver's license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 5:30PM
- Flexibility is required for occasional evening and weekend shifts, based on support needs
