Job Summary
The Job Coach will supervise and train consumers with developmental disabilities on skills necessary for specific tasks, work routines, and personal life activities crucial for successful employment. Responsibilities include assisting consumers in job skill development, analyzing job requirements into teachable components, and communicating progress to employers and support people. Requires a high school diploma, two years of relevant work experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role requires strong communication skills, good judgment in crisis situations, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years’ full-time work experience in employment or related field
- Successful completion of required trainings
- State trainings as required
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of employer expectations and local job market
- Ability to analyze a job and break it into manageable components
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in a crisis situation
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate/interact with people at a variety of levels, both internally and externally
- Ability to present ideas and factual data in a clear concise manner
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and common sense on a daily basis
- Ability to work creatively within the agency structure and as a team member with others in the agency and the community
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with consumers
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (weight of average manual wheelchair when chair is empty)
Additional Requirements
- Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation
