Job Summary
Work directly with clients to implement training programs and service plans, assist with personal care needs including grooming, toileting, feeding, showering, and dressing, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Monitor progress in goals through continuous data evaluations each month and observe and properly implement behavior management plans including proactive and reactive strategies. Assist in the implementation of vocational and recreational group activities, community outings, and volunteer or paid work onsite and in the community. This role supports individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities at Marklund's residential and day service locations in Elgin and Geneva. Paid training is provided for Direct Support Professional certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Caregiver and behavioral experience helpful, but not required (we provide paid on-site training for your Direct Support Professional certification)
- An ideal candidate will have an exceptional work ethic, positive attitude, and strong commitment to providing excellent care to our residents along with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and the desire to contribute to a strong culture where the entire team works together for the good of each resident
