Job Summary
Job Captain oversees drawing production and day-to-day operations of project phases, collaborating with Project Manager on proposals and schedules. Produces construction documents, provides design, code-compliance, and detailing decisions, and leads a drafting/designer team to deliver on schedule. Oversees/mentors Designers and Drafters; trains staff on new tasks, unfamiliar codes, or complex details; uses AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe Suite; advises PM on code issues and potential scope changes; manages routine client and consultant communications pre-close-out; coordinates submittals and RFIs; ensures productivity and forward planning across projects. Requires leadership in design development, strong knowledge of codes and construction methods, and professional communication, with aBachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture or Interior Design and 3+ years of experience; licensure is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program
- 3+ years of experience in architecture or interior design
- Proven design leadership and client-facing experience
- Advanced proficiency in design and documentation software
- Deep knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and detailing
- Strong communication, team leadership, and mentoring skills
- Professional licensure (preferred but not required)
