Job Summary
Provide instructional support for English language learners by assisting teachers with individual and group supervision, behavior management, and practice/remedial support plans. Translate and interpret written materials, IEP meetings, and communications for students and parents while collecting data on student progress. Transport students for class-related activities and participate in staff development and interpreting trainings. Work Monday through Friday for 7.25 hours per day at a rate of $19.77 to $26.01 per hour, with placement determined by experience under the negotiated LESPA Contract.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Criminal history clearance
- Have standard of moral character as required of teachers
- Oral and written skills in targeted language(s) as verified through formal state or local assessments
- Demonstrate proficiency, fluency, knowledge of, and the ability to provide accurate translations from a language other than English into English and from English into another language other than English
- Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations
- Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff. Communication may be in multiple languages as needed
- Transports students in district vehicles for class-related activities
