Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines while accommodating individual student differences. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to inform instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula based on Individual Education Plans and direct the work of assigned instructional aides. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities. Establish open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members while participating in staff development activities and faculty meetings. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Experience with [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
