Job Summary
Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs under general supervision. Help prepare instructional materials, maintain classroom order, manage equipment inventory, and keep administrative records. Provide orientation to substitute teachers and supervise students throughout the day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Assist students with physical disabilities, personal care, and behavioral needs, intervening in crisis situations as required. Work with individual students to develop motor skills and adapt methods based on special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Some experience working with children
