Job Summary
Plan and conduct organized, skill-focused practices for JH student-athletes while developing and implementing a game-day strategy appropriate for the junior high level. Ensure a safe, positive, and competitive environment for all participants by monitoring academic eligibility, student conduct, and adhering to district and IHSAA/IGHSAU guidelines. Communicate regularly with building administration and the Activities Director, representing East Marshall CSD with professionalism at all contests and events. Prioritize internal applicants for five business days before considering external candidates. Compensation follows the East Marshall CSD Extracurricular Salary Schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Current East Marshall CSD employee or qualified external applicant
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and skill development at the junior high school level
- Ability to obtain Iowa Coaching Authorization, if not currently held
Desired Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the junior high or high school level
- Experience playing or coaching basketball
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with student-athletes and families
- Commitment to student development both on and off the court
