Job Summary
Prepare food service facilities, set out trays and beverages, and cook, serve, and store food for students and staff in accordance with HACCP procedures. Maintain work areas in a clean, sanitary condition by sanitizing counters, equipment, and disposing of waste. Operate standard kitchen equipment including POS terminals, ovens, and steamers while counting money, making change, and collecting meal payments. Follow District, Local, and State regulations regarding food service activities and sanitation practices. Obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire and complete Kentucky One training. Perform assigned duties in established work schedules involving 4- to 6-hour shifts with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the duration of the shift.
Required Qualifications
- Any combination equivalent to high school diploma, G.E.D. certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
- Obtain Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire
- Complete Kentucky One training per 702 KAR 6:045
- Basic reading, math, and communication skills
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
- Proper lifting techniques
- Serve food in accordance with State and Local regulations
- Learn and follow established HACCP Procedures
- Maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition
- Operate a Point of Sale (POS) terminals
- Deposit and accurately make change
- Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Perform assigned duties in established work schedules
- Read Production Records
- Count and record numbers accurately
- Work cooperatively with others
- Lift heavy objects up to 30 pounds unassisted, up to 50 pounds with a team member
- Lift trays/boxes up to 15 pounds above shoulders for storage
- Push/pull carts up with weight loads up to 100 pounds
- Bend, squat, twist to perform daily duties including moping
- Tolerate cold temperatures for short periods of time
- Stand for the duration of 4 or 6-hour shift, with the exception of breaks
