Job Summary
Senior Java Lead role within JPMorganChase Global Finance Technology. Lead by example with production-quality code, tests, code reviews, and pair programming. Design and deliver secure, high-quality microservices and web applications using Java/Spring Boot and React; own end-to-end build-and-run of services. Provide technical leadership across teams, establish engineering standards, and mentor on architecture, code quality, security, and operational excellence. Role consists of 60–70% hands-on engineering and 30–40% technical leadership. Act as SME for microservices, CI/CD, observability, performance engineering, and data modeling. Champion SDLC practices: test automation, CI/CD, security-by-default, quality gates, and disciplined change management. Evaluate and introduce technologies to improve reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, and auditability. Integrate non-functional requirements (security, scalability, reliability, observability, cost) into designs with logging, metrics, tracing, SLOs, and runbooks. Foster an inclusive team culture, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement and craftsmanship. Preferred qualifications include regulatory finance/external reporting understanding, cloud certifications, large-scale distributed systems experience, and observable/SRE depth.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering
- 5+ years of applied experience in related technologies
- Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
- Full-stack delivery with React and secure RESTful API design
- Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM) and containerized workloads
- Microservices design, deployment, and operations
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions) and automated testing
- Relational and NoSQL databases with secure data access
- Monitoring and logging tools (DataDog, Dynatrace, Splunk)
- Reliability and performance engineering including concurrency, caching, resiliency patterns
- Experience shipping and operating production systems; Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud environments
- Experience with AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
- Ability to validate outputs for correctness, security, performance, and licensing compliance
- Understanding of security, testing, and operational excellence best practices
