Java Software Engineer (Cambridge)

Job Summary
Develop changes in Java, SQL, and PL/SQL for the ecommerce payments gateway while serving as an authorized code reviewer and pairing with engineers to ensure quality delivery. Review payment processing business processes, analyze production data, and interpret industry spec documents to scope work, collaborating with test engineers on automated integration and system tests. Design rollout and monitoring strategies for new features and provide support outside normal office hours for release deployments. Participate in quarterly planning and design sessions using the SAFe framework within a cross-functional team building reliable payment solutions that process over 800 transactions every second.
Required Qualifications
- Experience delivering software in an industry where quality is critical
- Proven ability to solve complex business problems with software solutions
- Strong Java knowledge and expertise interacting with large databases
- Database systems experience, ideally with SQL-based Oracle or similar platforms
- Familiarity working with large code bases and version control systems
- Experience using Linux as both a development and production environment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the financial services industry
- Familiarity with agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and their advantages and pitfalls
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies and design patterns
- Understanding of enterprise compute, storage, and networking technologies
