Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer for JPMorgan Chase within Asset and Wealth Management in Columbus. Collaborates directly with Investment Teams, Traders, and Portfolio Managers to support a high-profile, production-grade platform. Works in an Agile team delivering regular production updates, guiding peers and project decision-makers on technology choices, and contributing to engineering community standards. Develops secure, high-quality production code, reviews peers' code, and drives design decisions influencing product functionality and operations. Demonstrates expertise across Java development, TDD/BDD practices, IoC frameworks (Spring/Guice), and modern messaging/streaming (Kafka, IBM MQ, Solace, Ignite); emphasizes CI/CD, security, cloud considerations, and SDLC governance. Strong emphasis on collaboration with business units and cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Excellent programming experience in Core Java
- Implement TDD and BDD techniques with a focus on leveraging mocking frameworks for effective testing
- Demonstrate an understanding of IoC frameworks in Java, such as Spring or Guice
- Understand next generation messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, Solace or Ignite
- Strong grasp of engineering principles, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.)
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience with trading, FIX engines or related technologies (preferred)
- Exposure to cloud technologies and certification (preferred)
- Python skills are highly desirable (preferred)
