Job Summary
Java Engineer for Version 1's UK Digital Data & Cloud Practice working on backend Java development for a high-volume messaging environment in the financial services domain. Design, develop, and maintain backend components in Java with emphasis on performance and resilience; contribute to features across messaging, caching, and distributed processing layers; troubleshoot sequencing, recovery, and large-volume processing issues; support releases, deployments, and production stability; adhere to CI/CD, code quality, and security best practices. Collaborate with Technical Lead and peers; participate in design reviews and knowledge sharing; familiar with cloud-native microservices running on Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes; experience with Java, SQL, Kafka, Redis, REST APIs, and OAuth/JWT; familiarity with agile methodologies and AI tooling awareness to accelerate development.
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience in backend Java development
- Experience with Java, SQL and messaging platforms such as Kafka
- Experience with Spring and Spring Boot
- Experience in Java REST API development and security (OAuth, JWT)
- Experience with build and source control tools (Gradle, Maven, Git/Bitbucket)
- Familiarity with Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes
- Experience with caching services (Redis)
- Agile/Scrum experience
- Ability to work in a high-volume messaging/processing environment
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and code quality standards
