Job Summary
Java Backend Engineer – Mandarin speaking role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot. Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices, optimize database structures (MySQL), integrate with external APIs, participate in architecture discussions, monitor and resolve production issues, and ensure performance, reliability, and security. Candidates should have 3+ years of Java experience, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, microservices, SQL skills, ORM familiarity, Git/CI/CD, and strong communication; AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS, Redis, ELK/Grafana/Prometheus, and FinTech/Trading/CRM/Payment experience are a plus. Office-based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional Java development experience
- Strong experience with Java 8+ and Spring Boot
- RESTful API design and development
- Experience with Microservices Architecture
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as MySQL
- Experience with ORM frameworks such as MyBatis, Hibernate, or JPA
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of software design principles and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desirable: Experience with AWS cloud platforms
- Desirable: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Desirable: Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS
- Desirable: Familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies
- Desirable: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus
- Desirable: Understanding of application security and authentication mechanisms
- Desirable: Experience working in FinTech, Trading, CRM, Payment Systems, or Enterprise Systems
