Java AWS Lead Software Engineering

Job Summary
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support secure, scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices on AWS, including RESTful APIs, Kafka event-driven integrations, and distributed backend services. Lead technical design discussions, drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices for code quality and delivery speed, and establish validation standards for secure coding and automated testing. Troubleshoot complex issues across applications and cloud infrastructure to improve operational stability while mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of inclusion. Partner with product owners and architects to deliver solutions aligned with business priorities and control requirements within the Consumer & Community Banking Trust and Security Team.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 5+ years applied experience
- Strong experience with Java
- Strong experience with Spring Boot
- 8 plus years experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools
- Ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows
- Experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Experience designing and building microservices
- Experience designing and building distributed backend services
- Practical experience developing applications using AWS cloud technologies
- Practical experience deploying applications using AWS cloud technologies
- Practical experience supporting applications using AWS cloud technologies
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms
