Job Summary
Escort Japanese-speaking individuals or groups on sightseeing tours to commercial establishments, museums, and visitor attractions. Provide interesting and educational information while assisting with translation for third-party establishments like hotels and restaurants. Follow set travel itineraries in Japanese, complete VIP tour reports, and guide customers through airport check-in and security gates. Assist with dining reservations and explain restaurant menus and payment processes. Consult with customers regarding their stay in Hawaii. Perform all other duties as assigned. On-call status with no regular schedule; business needs dictate work assignments. Hourly pay of $24.00.
Required Qualifications
- Japanese language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
- High School graduate or equivalent experience
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Able to handle stressful situations and solve problems in a calm, professional manner
- Able to handle multiple tasks
- Constant standing, walking, vision, hearing, eye-hand-foot coordination
- Constant talking to customers
- Constant receiving verbal and written instruction
- Constant reading
- Constant visiting/working at different worksites
Desired Qualifications
- Six (6)-months customer service experience or equivalent experience desirable
- Excellent customer service skills in the hospitality industry
- Knowledge of tour industry, tour movements, and arrangements
- Working knowledge of Hawaii's tourism infrastructure
- Understanding of different countries' tour characteristics and needs
- Able to effectively and professionally communicate with employees, business partners, and clients in English and Japanese, via written and verbal communication methods
- Able to read tour itinerary in English and Japanese
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of hardware, software applications, such as Word Outlook
