Job Summary
Japanese interpreter will provide consecutive and limited simultaneous interpretation between U.S. and Japanese participants for a technical aviation/military engagement. Interpreting services include accurate rendering of speech, confidentiality, and adherence to UNCLASSIFIED parameters. On-site at a contractor facility near Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL for a full assignment day (8 hours) with two travel days. Preference for candidates with prior military, aviation, or defense terminology experience and prior work supporting U.S. Government or defense clients. Must be fluent in English and Japanese, able to perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, and able to pass background clearance. Travel is required; travel days Oct 23 and Oct 25, 2025; duration Oct 24, 2025 (one full day). Dress code: business professional; equipment and interpretation aids provided as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English
- Demonstrated experience in military, aviation, or defense-related interpretation preferred
- Prior work supporting U.S. Government or defense clients highly desirable
- Ability to perform both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, and strict adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards
- Clearance: Able to pass a background check
