Job Summary
Execute end-to-end import and export operations for Japan, managing customs processes, documentation, licensing, and trade compliance while overseeing broker performance. Lead Japan trade operations and support implementation of the Global Trade program, ensuring adherence to Japanese customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, and U.S. reexport requirements. Partner with manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, and logistics teams to resolve trade issues, mitigate supply chain risks, and optimize freight spend and inventory movement. Monitor trade operations KPIs to improve compliance, customs performance, cost, and cycle time. Serve as the primary interface with Japan Customs and METI for audits and inquiries. Champion automation and digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency and advise leadership on new product introductions and sourcing changes.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in international trade, export controls, customs compliance, import/export operations in Japan
- manufacturing industry experience
- semiconductor experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in English
- Strong knowledge of Japan Customs regulations
- Strong knowledge of FEFTA export controls
- Strong knowledge of import/export procedures
- Experience managing customs brokers
- Experience managing freight forwarders
- Demonstrated ability to balance compliance with business objectives
- Strong communication skills in a multinational environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills in a multinational environment
