Job Summary
Oversee daily custodial operations for a secure building by supervising janitorial personnel, coordinating cleaning schedules, and conducting routine inspections of offices and common areas. Assign work responsibilities, monitor employee performance, and train staff on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and workplace safety. Coordinate special projects, emergency cleanup activities, and supply inventory while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, security protocols, and environmental standards. Respond to customer service requests and report maintenance or safety hazards to facility management. Maintain accurate records of inspections and staff schedules. Requires valid driver's license, fluency in English, and ability to lift 20 lbs. Full-time role with occasional arctic outdoor exposure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least two (2) year of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of janitorial duties and 1 year of experience with supervision of employees
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS vehicle insurance policy
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, which may include a criminal background check, drug screening, physical examination, fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test
- Applicants who do not reside near an approved testing facility are responsible for travel expenses to the nearest testing location
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining positive relationships with employees, customers, and clients
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple work assignments and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with facility personnel, contractors, and building occupants
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all security requirements within a secure facility
- Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs
- Lift 20 lbs. from floor to knuckle x 2
- Lift 20 lbs. from floor to waist x 2
- Carry 20 lbs. with two hands for a minimum distance of 20 feet, self-paced but continuous
- Kneel on one knee and stand. Return to kneel on opposite knee. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 3 for each knee, self-paced but continuous
- Stand from Supine Position Test: From a supine, recumbent position, while wearing arctic gear, test recipient must be able to stand without assistance x 3, self-paced (this task must be accomplished safely without significant loss of balance or falling and without assistance)
- Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 5 each side, self-paced but continuous
- Walk on a treadmill at 3 MPH for 10 minutes with good balance
- Climb up and down 10 steps x 2 for a total of 20 steps, self-paced
- Knowledge of commercial custodial operations, sanitation standards, and infection prevention practices
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, chemical handling requirements, and workplace safety procedures
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing operational needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all security requirements in a secure building
