Job Summary
Perform routine janitorial and custodial services in assigned facilities at Fort Meade, Maryland, including cleaning restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, disinfect floors and high-touch surfaces, empty trash containers, and replenish restroom supplies. Operate janitorial equipment safely while reporting damaged fixtures, unsafe conditions, and supply needs to supervision. Respond to assigned work orders and service requests in a timely manner. Maintain janitorial closets, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized condition while complying with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements. This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance. Wage rate is between $35.00 and $45.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning supplies, trash, equipment, and materials consistent with the duties of the position
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods
- Ability to operate janitorial equipment safely for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying facility conditions
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding custodial work
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience preferred
- Experience cleaning commercial, industrial, institutional, or Government facilities preferred
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, janitorial tools, and custodial equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Working knowledge of basic janitorial and custodial cleaning practices
- Ability to clean and sanitize assigned areas in accordance with established standards
- Ability to safely operate vacuums, mops, buffers, floor machines, carts, and related janitorial equipment
- Ability to follow safety procedures, chemical handling instructions, and cleaning schedules
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a facilities support team
- Ability to maintain professionalism while working in occupied Government facilities
