Job Summary
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the thrift store by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping surfaces in sales floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas. Empty trash and recycling bins with proper waste separation, retrieve shopping carts or baskets from entrances or parking areas, and return them to designated locations. Work in a dynamic, noisy environment with bright lighting, standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs. Maintain flexibility to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs. Interact regularly with customers, donors, and coworkers while ensuring all assigned areas remain clean throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Ability to frequently exert up to 25 lbs of force
- Ability to constantly apply negligible force when handling objects
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Proficiency in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm
- Skill in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands
- Capability of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces
- Capability of maintaining balance when performing agile tasks
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more
- Closed-toe shoes for safety purposes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment
- Ability to work effectively in a bright environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High degree of flexibility
- Fundamental understanding of written and spoken English for comprehending instructions
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or customer facing experience is preferred, but not required
