Janitor & Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary
Conduct routine cleaning and light maintenance at agency-owned facilities, keeping buildings clean and orderly. Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restroom supplies; mops, buffs, and waxes floors; vacuums carpeting; and dusts furniture and counters. Collects and disposes of trash, sets up conference rooms for trainings, and responds to staff requests for assistance. Safely maneuver heavy objects, operates outdoor maintenance equipment like mowers, and cleans facility parking and landscape areas. Properly handles cleaning chemicals and equipment while maintaining MSDS logs and complying with safety regulations. Travels between sites and drives to perform duties. Requires a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and six months of commercial custodial experience. Full-time Monday through Friday hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of commercial custodial experience or any satisfactory combination of experience and training, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the essential functions, listed above
- Some knowledge of working with people with disabilities
- Ability to follow and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Business experience sufficient to meet the demands of the position, including basic computer skills
- Ability to pass state-required background and DMV checks
- Valid OR driver's license
- Satisfactory driving record
- Ability to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision
- Ability to safely maneuver heavy objects, including furniture and appliances
- Ability to properly handle cleaning chemicals, equipment and supplies
- Ability to operate outdoor maintenance equipment such as mowers and trimmers
- Ability to clean facility parking and landscape areas, including removal of trash and minor irrigation system repair
- Ability to comply with safety regulations
- Ability to maintain material safety data sheets (MSDS) in OSHA required log
- Ability to travel between sites and drive
