Job Summary
The Facility Sanitation Associate at the Albertsons Portland Distribution Center performs sanitation and housekeeping duties to support food safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, pressure washing, floor maintenance, garbage/recycling collection, rest room and break room cleaning, and maintaining outdoor areas. The role requires monitoring sanitation conditions, promptly responding to spills, reporting deficiencies to supervision, and following chemical handling procedures and PPE requirements. It also involves ensuring adherence to GMPs, SDS, OSHA safety policies, and proper chemical use; using equipment such as pallet jacks and floor scrubbers; and maintaining regular attendance, with availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays. The position emphasizes a commitment to food safety, sanitation standards, and professional conduct in a warehouse environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices in a warehouse or industrial environment
- Experience with proper use, handling and emergency procedures for chemicals and hazardous materials
- Ability to read and follow training, policy and procedural documents and safety information
- Demonstrated ability to respond to food safety and sanitation issues and report to supervision
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet attendance requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoors; wear PPE as required
- Must adhere to fall protection policies and safety procedures
- May operate pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, compactors or other equipment
- Must understand and follow safety labeling requirements
- Must maintain professional conduct and collaborative workplace behavior
- Proven ability to identify hazards and report deficiencies
