Job Summary

Manage the daily operations of a tooling team, overseeing scheduling, planning, and budget for remediation, optimization, and overhaul projects on existing tool portfolios. Apply systematic root cause problem solving to address post-production quality issues, collaborating with vendors and development services to meet customer delivery and product quality objectives. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools to enhance process reliability while ensuring all engineering changes adhere to cGMP procedures and ISO13485 standards. Provide direction to personnel on downtime analysis, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions to achieve production targets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years tooling maintenance in injection molding environment
  • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in tool shop
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills
  • Ability to project manage across functional teams involving tooling vendors & suppliers
  • Knowledge of Lean continuous improvement techniques including statistics & DOE
  • Knowledge of polymer materials & injection molding processing
  • High level of cGMP in ISO13485 environment, safe working practices and awareness
  • Strong tooling & product design skills with a working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD ProE
  • Excellent organizational, systematic root cause problem solving and communication skills
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, self-directed & results driven
  • 15 years injection mold making experience
  • 5 years tooling assembly management experience
  • Familiarity with plastic and injection mold making processes (post-processing assembly, grinding, repair, assembly)
  • Proficiency in using various tooling tools (files, grinding equipment, measuring instruments, etc.)
  • Familiarity with machining part precision control (dimensions, tolerances, geometric tolerances)
  • Ability to read drawings (2D/3D)
  • Familiarity with surface roughness (Ra), fit clearance, sliding mechanisms, and other key quality points
  • Ability to manage on-site personnel and production scheduling
  • Ability to effectively promote standardized operations (SOP) and process unification
  • Ability to communicate across departments (CNC, design, quality)
  • Ability to adapt to overtime and handle on-site issues quickly
  • Strong sense of responsibility and high execution capability
  • Ability to analyze and improve quality anomalies
  • Cost control awareness (rework rate, processing time, adjustment efficiency)
