Job Summary
Lead design teams through full product development for high-frequency connectors, ensuring compliance with signal integrity, impedance matching, and EMI/EMC requirements. Collaborate with Project Managers during the quoting process and represent Jabil in technical customer discussions to assess system architectures and resolve project risks. Manage product design documentation, guide component specifications, and lead remote development teams while performing independent research to develop patents and white papers. Mentor engineering staff and define R&D proposals to enhance technical competencies, utilizing tools like HFSS and SolidWorks to optimize designs for automotive, data center, or large equipment sectors.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- Minimum of 11-12 years of related experience and/or training
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Lead Engineer
- Specific requirements as defined by the market sector
- Bachelor's degree
- Electronic, communication, mechanical or related major
- Master's or PhD preferred
- 8+ years of connector R&D and development experience
- Familiarity with high-frequency connector design principles
- Familiarity with cable and wire harness design principles
- Understanding of RF signal transmission characteristics (such as S-parameters, VSWR, insertion loss)
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (such as Creo, SolidWorks)
- Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation tools (such as HFSS, CST)
- Experience with high-speed signal testing
- Familiarity with vector network analyzers
- Familiarity with TDR testing equipment
- Good English reading, writing, and listening skills
- Good English speaking skills
- Fluent English speaking skills preferred
- Experience with large equipment, automotive electronics, or data center related connectors and wire harness R&D
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ISO, IEEE) and industry certification processes
- Familiarity with connector, motherboard, wire harness, terminal, connector, and cable component processing and manufacturing processes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in high-frequency connector product design, development, and optimization to ensure meeting high-speed signal transmission requirements
- Ability to formulate product technical solutions and R&D plans based on customer needs and industry standards
- Experience in electrical performance simulation (such as signal integrity, impedance matching, EMI/EMC analysis) and structural design verification
- Experience collaborating with process and manufacturing teams to solve production technical issues and improve product reliability and consistency
- Experience tracking industry technology development and participating in research and application of new materials and new processes
- Ability to write technical documents including design specifications, test reports, and patent applications
