Job Summary
Vascular Access Nurse (IV RN) provides access to a patient’s circulatory system via a vascular access device (VAD) including IVs, PIVs, midlines, and PICCs/CVCs. Responsibilities include setting up and performing vascular access procedures (PICC, Midline, peripheral IV) using ultrasound guidance when appropriate, ensuring infection prevention measures, documenting thoroughly, coordinating with licensed personnel, educating patients and staff on line care, and contributing to quality surveillance. Requires extensive experience with vascular line placement and care; five years of nursing experience and two years’ PICC/Midline insertions are expected; CRNI preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Five years nursing experience
- Two years PICC/Midline insertions
- Experience with vascular line placement and care and maintenance
- Knowledge of infection prevention measures and sterile technique
- Ability to set up and perform vascular access procedures (PICC, Midline, peripheral IV) as credentialed
- Ability to educate patients and staff on line care and infusion therapies
- Proven ability to work independently and report comprehensively
