Job Summary
Installs, tests, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; maintains air conditioning and refrigeration equipment of all types including absorption, centrifugal and compressor units; performs required preventive maintenance on installed equipment; reviews controls and control systems for proper operation and efficiency; reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, specifications and manufacturers’ recommendations; may pump down and charge units with refrigerants; performs installation of equipment and tests/balances air and chilled/hot water systems; keeps records and prepares reports of daily work and service calls; adheres to safety policies and procedures and may train lower classified trades personnel; EPA Refrigerant Certification is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school education and 4-6 years experience as a building heating, ventilating, cooling and controls mechanics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Certification required
