Job Summary
As an ITS Project Manager, act as the technical and project lead for mid- to large-scale ITS projects, overseeing planning, design, and implementation of advanced ITS infrastructure (communications networks, system integration, transit signal priority, connected corridor technologies). Lead engineering design and project management across multidisciplinary teams, develop technical studies and design packages, present solutions to state/municipal/transit clients, perform quality control, develop scopes and budgets, coordinate with traffic/roadway/rail/communications teams, contribute to proposals and pursuit strategies, and support business development and client relationships while ensuring compliance with transportation standards. Must bring a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, 8+ years of ITS/traffic experience, and a PE license; hybrid work arrangement with multiple Minnesota office locations. This role requires strong communication skills, experience with ITS technologies (fiber, CCTV, DMS, AVL, TAPs such as BRT/rail), and active engagement in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of relevant traffic engineering and/or ITS experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of hire
- Experience managing engineering design and/or planning projects across the full project lifecycle
- Direct experience supporting state or county transportation agencies, and/or transit agencies
- Experience with BRT and rail technology systems
- Demonstrated success in business development, municipal client engagement, and pursuit leadership
