Job Summary
Italian Language Instructor, eMentor for LEAP/AFCLC — delivers one-on-one and small-group instruction (2–4 Scholars) in Italian and related target languages, using the eMentor platform to administer curricula, prepare instructional aids, and operate live sessions. Courses emphasize listening, speaking, reading, and writing with cultural, military, and geopolitical content, aligned to ILR proficiency levels 2 and above. Responsibilities include creating lesson plans and slides, delivering instruction per objectives, providing feedback, monitoring attendance, and supporting OnDemand scheduling in LEaDeR. Requires ILR Advanced Professional Proficiency or Superior in instructed languages, a bachelor’s degree in language instruction or related field (or five years of embedded culture experience), ability to teach ILR 0–3+, extensive knowledge of language teaching techniques and instructional systems, and strong proficiency with instructional design, multimedia delivery, and common productivity tools. Clearance: must pass a background check. Location: Montgomery, AL / Remote. Travel: none.
Required Qualifications
- language skills equivalent to ILR Advanced Professional Proficiency or Superior in speaking and writing for each instructed language
- bachelor’s level degree in language instruction or related social science field or minimum of five years of embedded culture experience
- ability to teach across ILR levels 0 through 3+
- extensive global regional expertise
- extensive knowledge of foreign language teaching techniques and instructional systems
- extensive knowledge of learning theory and educational psychology
- extensive knowledge of instructional design practices and curriculum development
- extensive knowledge of delivery systems for web-based instruction
- extensive instructor facilitation and faculty development experience
- extensive knowledge of computers in education and training
- multimedia design and delivery methods proficiency
- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- ability to pass a background check
