Job Summary
Provide timely technical support to resolve issues for staff and students, troubleshooting and repairing hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and interactive whiteboards. Diagnose and fix damaged devices such as Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops, performing repairs on components like displays, keyboards, and motherboards while maintaining spare parts inventory. Support and maintain district networks, wired and wireless infrastructure, including switches, routers, access points, and CAT6 cabling. Install, configure, and update software on devices, providing training on approved educational tools and ensuring software licensing compliance. Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity, and assist with VOIP and camera system support. Maintain accurate records of all repairs, installations, and maintenance activities, and document technical processes. Work with diverse groups to communicate technical assistance effectively, coordinate with external vendors, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity measures and federal/state regulations. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or certification in a field related to computer networking or equivalent combination of education and experience in troubleshooting computer software and hardware problems and supporting users in a network environment
- Proficient in Linux, Mac, and Windows operating systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated knowledge of information system hardware and software troubleshooting skills and problem resolution
- Professional work attitude and appearance
- Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate lifting up to 50 pounds
- regularly required to walk, sit, or stand for prolonged periods of time
- may require climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- See in the normal visual range with or without correction
- vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents
- Knowledge of various networking systems and how different technology systems interact
- Knowledge of firewalls, switches, routers, access points
- Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate technical assistance to all users
- Ability to be detail oriented, meet deadlines, and work on multiple tasks at one time
- Possess organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand and brainstorm creative solutions to complex problems
- Possess strong time management skills and work productively with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems and technology
- Ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner
- 12-month work schedule with normal school holidays allowed
- Some weekend and evening hours may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Certification(s) in a field related to computer networking such as CompTIA A+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or CompTIA Security+
- Experience in supporting hardware and software in an educational environment
- Experience with Chromebook repair
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education
- Experience with Jamf
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience with FreePBX
