IT Systems Engineer II

Job Summary
IT Systems Engineer II responsible for network and server administration, including configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and operating systems; managing Azure and AWS environments; ensuring SOC 2 and ISO compliance; building and managing physical and virtual infrastructure; capacity planning and storage optimization; delivering end-to-end systems engineering across project phases; and providing Tier 3 IT support with strong emphasis on Microsoft and cloud technologies in a regulated lab/research setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Not less than five (5) years’ experience in systems and network administration
- Not less than five (5) years’ experience supporting and managing a corporate IT system, including Active Directory, virtualized infrastructure, backup systems, network architecture, data room management, and cloud-based platforms
- Not less than five (5) years’ experience supporting and managing corporate Azure and AWS environments
- Not less than five (5) years’ experience providing end-user support and desktop engineering
- Knowledge of Azure AD, Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, Scripting/Power Shell, Azure, AWS, and other Microsoft and third-party enterprise technologies
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2012 through 2025 Operating Systems
- Knowledge of Network protocols including DHCP, DNS, IP routing, VLANs and performance metrics
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Support and Delivery best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of server configurations: RAID, SAN, networking protocols, IIS, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, VPN technologies, firewalls, and security certificates
- Demonstrated network knowledge: WAN, LAN, VPN, VLAN, Route and Switch, Firewalls, ACLs, Spanning Tree
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy and Distributed File System practices
- Demonstrated ability in diagnosing and remedying critical server-related problems and failures promptly and effectively
- Demonstrated knowledge of hyper converged infrastructure and networking components
- Knowledge of in/out of band management
- Preferred: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or higher, Amazon AWS SysOps Administrator or higher
- Knowledge of Part 11/Annex 11, GAMP, GDPR, and NIST 800-53
- Supervisor Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Working Environment: Primarily office, occasional travel up to 10%
