IT Systems Engineer

Job Summary
Design, manage, secure, and optimize the enterprise IT environment across multiple Alaska locations, including user account administration for Microsoft, Oracle, SAGE, and Epicor systems. Maintain operating systems, configure servers and network infrastructure, and monitor endpoint and cloud environments while applying security patches and managing compliance. Investigate cybersecurity threats using SIEM and EDR tools, support backup and disaster recovery planning, and collaborate with vendors to ensure operational reliability. Occasional travel to sites in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay, and Valdez is required. This role supports real-world operations in unique Alaskan environments, offering ownership of a growing internal cybersecurity program.
Required Qualifications
- Currently authorized to work in the United States
- Relocation assistance is not available for this role
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration or IT engineering roles solving complex technical challenges
- Strong experience with virtual environments and cloud infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with Windows-based environments, Epicor, and Oracle systems
- Familiarity with infrastructure hardware such as servers, UPS systems, and Fortinet devices
- Working knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and configuration
- Experience managing and troubleshooting storage systems
- Strong ability to analyze problems and implement effective, scalable solutions aligned with best practices
- Experience supporting enterprise IT environments and diverse user groups
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and locations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with scripting, version control, and documentation of technical work
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, team-oriented approach with a focus on reliability and accountability
- Traveling occasionally to Colville locations including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay, and Valdez
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Windows Server administration
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator
