Job Summary
Provide day-to-day helpdesk and desktop support across Windows and Linux environments while deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting on-premise infrastructure including bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, and SAN storage. Administer core identity services like Active Directory and Azure AD, manage endpoints via Intune, and support LAN/WiFi networking. Apply a security-first mindset to patching, hardening, and access control; set up AV and video conferencing systems; and handle employee onboarding/offboarding with account provisioning and hardware setup. Maintain IT asset inventories, document systems and workflows, and collaborate with senior staff on infrastructure projects. This role requires full-time onsite presence in Hawthorne, participation in an on-call rotation, and occasional weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a system administration role
- Hands-on exposure to on-premise infrastructure: bare metal servers, virtualization, SAN storage, and networking
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN and WiFi
- Experience administering Windows systems and working familiarity with Linux
- Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID
- Familiarity with endpoint management (Intune, application packaging, GPOs)
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting AV and video conferencing systems
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work at height
- Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Willingness to work occasional weekends to support maintenance windows and critical operations
- Full-time onsite presence (five days a week)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes (k8s)
- Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell DSC
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Grafana and Prometheus
- Ability to write basic scripts (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine tasks
- Experience supporting Siemens Teamcenter
- Experience working in an engineering environment, including supporting engineering applications and development tools (CAD packages, MATLAB, Visual Studio, etc.)
- Familiarity with CMMC and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements
- Strong documentation habits: tracking assets and licenses, writing runbooks and procedures, and keeping records current as systems change
- Security-first mindset in daily operations and system administration
