Job Summary
IT Support Specialist at Wickaninnish Inn provides timely technical support to staff and guests, troubleshoots hardware, software, networks, and IT systems, assists the IT Manager with tasks and projects, maintains IT systems and inventory, logs incidents, and develops user guides while delivering staff training on secure, efficient IT practices. The role requires associate-level IT education or equivalent experience, at least 2 years in IT support (preferably in hospitality), and hands-on knowledge of hardware/software, networking, cybersecurity, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP/SQL with Laravel/LAMP, Fortinet VPN/Cisco switching, Linux KVM virtualization, and Microsoft Active Directory and 365 hybrid environments; strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills; and the availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position is full-time and located in Tofino, BC, Canada, with in-person work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT support role, preferably in the hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and cybersecurity concepts
- Knowledge of programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and experience with the Laravel framework and LAMP
- Knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls, VPNs and Cisco switching technologies
- Experience with virtualization technologies including Linux KVM
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 hybrid environments
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- The ability to make a commitment to the position for a mutually understood and agreed upon period of time
