Job Summary
Junior IT Specialist is responsible for supporting Hive Group’s internal IT operations and federal client support, performing defined tasks with clear instructions to help maintain on-site infrastructure and ensure alignment with federal security standards (CMMC, NIST 800-171). The role involves IT administration and user support (Google Workspace, access controls), asset and endpoint management (laptops/Chromebooks, imaging, GFE coordination), basic cybersecurity practices, VPN/Wi‐Fi/VLAN connectivity, and contributing to security compliance documentation and SOPs. Core hours are 8:00 AM–4:00 PM with on-site presence in McLean, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 1 - 5 years of IT experience
- Technical Skills: Troubleshooting Windows and ChromeOS; basic understanding of Google Workspace
- Networking: Foundational IP addressing, Wi-Fi, basic connectivity
- Aptitude: Desire to learn administrative tools and security platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, Sophos, Fortinet)
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and client-first mentality
- Preferred: GovCon exposure; knowledge of NIST 800-171 or CMMC; relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+)
