IT Security Engineer

Job Summary
As an IT Security Engineer, you will lead penetration testing of web applications and infrastructure, validate security across new hardware and software, manage firewall rules and SOC II controls, and coordinate external pentesting. You’ll oversee security testing (Red Team/Blue Team exercises), assist frontline teams with security questions, manage backlog-driven priorities in Jira, and ensure the application remains secure and compliant while promoting secure development and operations practices. You’ll bring hands-on experience with Linux environments, cloud security, and common vulnerabilities (OWASP), plus scripting skills and proactive security leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience performing penetration testing against web applications
- Experience securing cloud-based infrastructures and solutions
- Previous experience working on an information security team
- Advanced knowledge of common security vulnerabilities (OWASP) and best practices
- Familiarity with SOC II controls and how to review them
- Experience in other technical roles (SysAdmin, Helpdesk, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Linux server environments
- Experience with Kanban and Agile DevOps workflows
- Degree in CS, IT, or similar field
- CISSP, Security+ or other security certifications
- Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Ruby, or PHP)
