Job Summary
Respond to technology support requests, build and configure Windows and Linux devices, and support the Windows domain infrastructure. Monitor systems, optimize workflows using PowerShell, and develop technical documentation while collaborating with mentors on real-world projects. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues across desktop, server, and network levels in a hands-on capacity. Work 40 hours per week in person in the London office from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This internship offers a direct introduction to Jane Street's problem-solving approach, with opportunities to return for full-time roles after graduation.
Required Qualifications
- Available to work 40 hours per week in person in our London office (approx. hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday)
- Knowledgeable of computer hardware components and how they interact with each other
- Familiar with the Windows operating system
- Eager to help people and solve problems; able to communicate clearly and respectfully
- A reliable team player with a 'no job too small' attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Humble and unafraid to ask questions and admit mistakes
- Able to deconstruct technical problems, and willing to take a hands-on approach to gain experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues at the desktop, server and network levels
- Able to develop and maintain technical documentation
- Fluent in English
Desired Qualifications
- Interested in learning about networking, programming or system administration
- Some familiarity (either personal, academic, or professional) with a scripting language, such as PowerShell or Bash, is a plus
