IT Network Engineer

Job Summary
Procure, configure and install network hardware including switches, access points, UPS and PDUs; troubleshoot and resolve network issues; plan and coordinate network outage windows with stakeholders for software updates and hardware refreshes; perform wireless surveys to identify and fix coverage gaps; configure and troubleshoot network access control (NAC) and security features; conduct job walks with customers, vendors and contractors to gather network requirements and create implementation plans; build and maintain IDF rooms across the campus per network standards; monitor network health with in-house and third-party tools; continuously create and update network documentation; manage network hardware inventory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline and 3+ years of professional network engineering experience; OR 5+ years of professional network engineering experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience designing and maintaining residential and commercial internet hand-offs
- Background in supporting Internet Service Provider or Managed Service Provider networks
- OSi (OSI) model understanding and network standards
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Arista data center class switches
- Cisco wireless LAN controllers or other wireless technologies
- Wave Division Multiplexing and Fiber Optics
- GPON, FTTH, Residential mesh routers
- Small to medium-size business networking, firewalls, SDWAN
- DNS, DHCP, SNMP, IP helpers, ARP, CDP, LLDP
- Switch port security features
- Network monitoring tools
- Documentation and procedural installation
- Linux/Windows system administration
- Industry standard certifications such as CCNA or CCNP
Additional Requirements
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State under ITAR
