Job Summary
IT Manager at a voice AI startup in San Francisco. Own internal IT and security operations end-to-end as the first dedicated IT hire, building and owning IT, security, and compliance from first principles. Responsibilities include device management for a Mac/Apple fleet (provisioning, MDM, disk encryption, patch management, onboarding/offboarding), administering Google Workspace and identity stack (SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning) with least-privilege access, standing up and running the help desk, maintaining security hygiene (MFA, encryption, access reviews, application inventory, allowlisting policies), developing a right-sized SOC 2/ISO 27001-like compliance program, auditing installed software to minimize attack vectors, securing on-prem and local networks (firewalls, VPN, segmentation, wireless), managing IT vendors/MSPs and SLAs, budgeting for the IT function, and communicating effectively with executives. The role emphasizes a fast-moving, autonomous, hands-on operator who can scale IT and security as the company grows. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years in a hands-on IT role
- experience as the first or second dedicated IT hire at a startup or similarly high-performing organization
- hands-on experience managing a Mac / Apple-based device fleet (MDM, encryption, patch management)
- Familiarity with Google Workspace administration and the wider SaaS / identity stack (SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning)
- comfort owning a function as an individual contributor
- ability to communicate effectively with executive-level stakeholders
- experience building or supporting a compliance program (SOC 2 / ISO 27001 / similar)
