Hands-on IT Manager leading modernization of mixed cloud/on-prem environment (60% cloud / 40% on-prem) in a mid-sized organization. 70–85% hands-on technical leadership; manage VMware/Nutanix upgrades; implement security/compliance initiatives; collaborate with a small IT team; maintain day-to-day engineering work. Hybrid schedule in Boston; requires deep experience with VMware, Microsoft 365/Azure/Entra/Teams/OneDrive, networking, security and infra operations; PowerShell/automation; 7–12+ years IT infra; strong communicator.
Required Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of IT infrastructure experience
- Hands-on technical leadership (70–85%)
- Deep experience with VMware and Microsoft 365 (O365, Azure, Entra, Teams, OneDrive)
- Networking fundamentals (switching, VLANs, firewalls)
- Security and infrastructure operations
- PowerShell or automation experience
- Exposure to Nutanix is a plus
- Own and improve mixed cloud/on-prem environment (~60% cloud / 40% on-prem)
- Lead infrastructure upgrades across VMware and Nutanix
- Help operationalize security and compliance initiatives
- Partner with a small IT team
- Stay actively involved in day-to-day engineering work
- Strong communicator across technical and business teams
