IT Infrastructure Engineer (DB2 Database Administrator – IBM z/OS)

Job Summary
Administer, tune, and maintain IBM DB2 v12+ databases on IBM z/OS, executing utilities like RUNSTATS, REORG, and RECOVER for mission-critical systems including Payroll and Financial Management. Design backup and recovery strategies, monitor health and performance, and perform disaster recovery planning and execution. Troubleshoot production issues across Development, Testing, and Production environments, manage software migrations and releases, and open IBM support tickets. Document administration procedures and ensure compliance with FISA standards. Collaborate with application teams to validate vendor releases and assist with tool patching.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- at least 4 years of relevant experience in database administration, data center engineering, cloud engineering, or complex IT infrastructure
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- at least 8 years of relevant IT infrastructure or database administration experience
- An equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- Extensive hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 Version 12 (or higher) on IBM z/OS
- DB2 installation and configuration
- Database migration
- Performance tuning
- Backup and recovery
- Database monitoring
- Experience executing DB2 utilities including: RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD
- Experience supporting mission-critical production environments
- Experience with software release management and production migrations
- Strong troubleshooting skills for DB2 online and batch processing issues
- Experience working with application development teams during SDLC
- Experience administering IBM InfoSphere Data Replication
- Experience participating in Disaster Recovery planning and execution
- Ability to monitor database health and proactively resolve performance issues
- Experience managing IBM support cases through resolution
- Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting large government or public-sector enterprise applications
- Experience supporting Financial Management, Payroll, or Pension systems
- Knowledge of IBM z/OS architecture and mainframe environments
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and database automation tools
- Familiarity with change management and ITIL processes
