Job Summary

Diagnose computer errors and troubleshoot common software, hardware, operating system, and basic networking issues to restore user productivity. Install and configure approved software and operating systems on desktop and laptop computers, while updating drivers and components as necessary. Set up workstations, monitors, printers, and peripherals for new and existing users, providing basic training in standard applications and new technologies. Document troubleshooting steps and solutions, then refer complex or unresolved problems to higher-level IT staff. Work independently on routine assignments and collaborate on escalated issues, following up with users to confirm system functionality. This role requires consistent on-site presence with a minimum of three days per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 1 to 2 years of help desk, desktop support, technical support, or related experience
  • Beginning to working knowledge of common desktop operating systems, business applications, computer hardware, peripherals, and basic networking concepts
  • Ability to diagnose routine problems, follow established troubleshooting procedures, test solutions, and identify when escalation is required
  • Ability to install, configure, and update software and operating systems using approved standards and instructions
  • Basic knowledge of workstation set-up, hardware maintenance, and common computer repair practices
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with patience and professionalism when assisting users with varying levels of technical experience
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information in understandable terms
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through on multiple support requests
  • Ability to work independently on routine assignments and collaboratively with higher-level IT staff on escalated issues
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, procedures, and support tools as business needs evolve
